Core formulas you must memorise
- Slope: m = (y₂ − y₁)/(x₂ − x₁)
- Slope-intercept: y = mx + b
- Point-slope: y − y₁ = m(x − x₁)
- Standard form: Ax + By = C
- Distance: d = √((x₂−x₁)² + (y₂−y₁)²)

How to spot this question type on the test
SAT questions on Systems of Linear Equations typically present in one of three ways: as a pure symbolic problem ("solve for x"), wrapped in a word problem (a real-world scenario you must translate), or hidden inside a longer multi-step question where Systems of Linear Equations is just the first or last step. Train yourself to recognise the signature — a particular word, equation form, or diagram — and you will halve your reading time.
